The House Jan. 6 Select Committee issued a subpoena Friday for former President Donald Trump to testify and hand over documents.
The committee had voted Oct. 13 to subpoena Trump, whose spokesperson Taylor Budowich accused Democrats of “doubling and tripling down their partisan theatrics.” Trump must divulge materials to the committee on Nov. 4 before testifying for deposition in person or remotely on Nov. 14, the subpoena orders.
The subpoena argues the committee has “overwhelming evidence” that Trump intentionally spread false claims of 2020 election-related fraud, illegally attempted to get state officials to alter their states’ results and knowingly sent angry and armed supporters to the Capitol on Jan. 6.
